WK6 Design Concept

Our site has good natural advantages. There is a large ladder in the centre of the site, which we call the shared ladder. There are a lot of loose seats on the opposite side of the stairs. People will buy food and sit here to chat and eat. There are many retail stores around selling all kinds of food and drinks, and a variety of products and fruits form a very rich visual experience. We try to simplify the equipment and devices of the education exhibition hall so that the project can be copied, not only in the Borough Market but also in any market, even in museums and shopping centres.

We hope to use projection and storage devices to complete rapid construction. A projection is installed on the top of the ceiling of the large ladder, and portable devices can be placed on the table. The core of the work is microfilm. We hope to use this film to arouse people’s awareness of environmental protection. Let people feel the deterioration of the current environment and the urgency of environmental protection. Let more people participate in the activities of ecological protection, starting from the small things around them. The education exhibition hall we built will form a small theatre, which will attract people to watch and discuss topics, and let more people know our project.

WK 5 Design Inspiration

How to gather people together? How to influence people’s behaviour? How to involve people in our projects? These problems are our concern and need to be solved. Our inspiration comes from the ancient Chinese painting Qingming River map. A long time ago, there were no supermarket chains and shopping centres only scattered vendors. The seller loads the goods in the car and sells them in the open air frequently to attract customers with sound. Sometimes people go shopping not only to buy what they need but also to watch performances. In the open-air market, there are often many activities. Some people perform magic, acrobatics, musical instruments and so on. These activities will attract a part of the crowd to watch. As more and more people gather, they form a stage.

We try to return to the original way of people’s behaviour and use activities to attract people’s natural onlookers. We try to make an educational display and choose to build our stage in the crossroads of the market. Using sound and projection to bring people the enjoyment of hearing and vision, and attract people’s natural onlooking. Some of them will participate in our activities so that the rest of the audience and the audience participating in the activities will form the fun of seeing and being seen.

WK4 Site Research

The final site of our project is Borough Market. The Borough Market has existed since the 11th century. It was originally a trading market for grains, fish, vegetables and livestock near the tower bridge in London. Later, it gradually evolved into the current situation and was officially located in the current position in the 13th century A.D. Borough Market now has more than 100 independent stalls, and senior food experts ensure that the quality and source of food meet high standards. It is also recorded as the oldest fruit and vegetable market in London and the only fully independent market run by a volunteer board. Borough Market mainly sells traditional British food and some special food from other countries. There are many sellers here who use their own raw materials to bake, brew and barbecue food and liquor to sell, which ensures the authentic and original taste of food to the greatest extent. The Borough Market is not only a recreational dining area but also a mysterious place to explore new cuisines and gifts. Borough Market is an “open-air classroom” to learn about world food culture and food manufacturing process.

In addition to the regular food trade, borough market also has various activities held at various times, such as the “slow meat companion”, which has been started in 2015 with the participation of two top British chefs, to remind the public to eat less but higher quality meat; another experienced and well-known chef’s cooking show. In the future, there will be a breakfast lecture, pancake making competition and many other popular activities waiting for you to taste. The venue of borough market has a large ladder on which people can sit to share food and chat. We think it is a good sharing space, which can provide a lot of meta inspiration for our project.

WK3 Project Development-thinking

Victor Papanek put forward his new view on the purpose of design, that is, the design should serve the people; design should not only serve healthy people, but also the disabled; design should seriously consider the use of the earth’s limited resources, and design should serve to protect the earth we live in. Victor papanack has a direct impact on the trend of green design. He first proposed the concept of design ethics, that is, why design? In the noisy wave of the “pop” design movement, some people began to seriously raise the issue of “design purpose” from the perspective of design theory. This is a very important starting point for the ethics of modern design and the purpose theory of modern design. Because of this starting point, the design theory in the future has developed more deeply.

I hope to find a better solution in the next direction and topic discussion. Committed to sustainable design, can let their works bring people some inspiration, and affect more people to participate in environmental protection activities. I always think that as designers, we have the responsibility to reduce the impact of the construction process on the natural environment. Reduce the damage of human activities to the ecological balance, and use works to infect and influence more people, so that the world can be different.

WK2 Seaside site

I have always had a special feeling for the sea, which originated from the story of childhood and the natural charm of the sea. There are too many adjectives for the sea, spectacular, inclusive, open-minded and so on. But the sea is healing for me. The sound of the waves beating on the goose warm stone is like the process of spiritual healing.

Many of the inspiration and elements in the design come from the sea. The nature and mystery of the sea attract us to explore it step by step. The waves of the sea make people feel soft and warm, and the boundless coastline always brings people endless reverie. I often wonder why people come to the seaside? What kind of story happened here? This may be the bud of design inspiration.

WK1 Project Development-Site Analysis

On February 20, we went to London to see various markets and venues. Each market has its own unique design style and attractive customers, which also makes our exploration of each market fresh and interesting. There are more than 40 snack stalls in the old spidalfields market, a good market in East London. More than 50 independent shops. It’s open seven days a week, and it’s updated every month. These activities not only attract a lot of customers who can play, but also we who go to the shop in person are really surrounded by fans! There are also many authentic Chinese cuisines, such as the authentic Taiwan snack stall Jiaba, wanghong fruit tea Yifang and pancake fruit pleasant lady. These are popular stalls suitable for our Chinese stomach!

The second favorite is Billingsgate market, a paradise for all seafood lovers. This is the biggest and most famous seafood market in London! It’s very economical. The price is much cheaper than that of seafood in the supermarket! However, we have to pay a “price” to eat delicious and cheap seafood. Because the market is only open in the early morning, the best time to go is around 5 a.m. Now we clearly remember that our friends in West London stayed up all night for a cheap bite of seafood and went out before dawn.

I like to explore a venue, starting from its most primitive functions. It is because of the positioning and function of these markets that these customers are attracted. Let’s think more about what interesting stories will happen here.

Christmas Travel Part 3

I have to say that Paris is really beautiful! My impression of Paris is still that “old” age, the so-called golden age. You literary masters, the era of the painting of birds and Phoenix. Compared with our time, the time flow seems too fast. It’s too soon to precipitate.

Pei is one of my favorite architects. I have always wanted to come to the Louvre to see the master’s pyramid works at close range. Pei designed and built the glass pyramid. He did not use the pyramid shape of ancient Egypt in his design, but the common geometric form. He used glass materials. The pyramid not only has a small surface area but also can reflect the changing sky of Paris. It can provide good lighting for the underground facilities, creatively solving a series of difficulties in transforming the ancient palace into a modern art gallery Topic, has achieved great success, world-renowned.

Christmas Travel Part 2

The streets of Rome, Florence and Venice are very narrow. Walking on the flagstone road of the city, you can see all kinds of sceneries. Our hotel in Rome is very close to the famous wishing pool, so we came back and forth several times. When I arrived that day, I thought of going out and shaking myself, and then I wandered inexplicably to Fontana Di Trevi, the wishing pool. At that moment, I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t expect that the scenic spots I often saw on the Internet were just behind the corner of a small street.

When I went that day, there was almost no one, so I couldn’t believe it was a real wish pool. As a result, when I went to school with Jing again the next day, there were so many people. Well, I believe it very much! (it’s said that in the wishing pool, you can go back to Rome by throwing a coin in your right hand over your left shoulder. Well, I believe it.) a little further forward is the famous scene in the movie Spanish Square, where Hepburn sat on the steps to eat ice cream in the movie Roman holiday.

Christmas Travel Part 1

On December 18, my family and I came to Switzerland, where we have been longing for a long time, to climb the alpine snow mountain with an altitude of 3000m. The Alps are the only snow capped glaciers in Switzerland. This is the most exciting stop of my journey. There are three different types of cable cars in the snow mountain, which can take us to the top of the mountain for 45 minutes. From the moment when I stepped on the cable car, I began a fresh and exciting journey, as if I was flying over the Alps. This is the entrance to the cable car. The first section is a conventional cable car for six people, from the valley to the 1796 meter high mountain lake, Lake telubu. From here, we change to the second cable car, which can hold about 80 people. It starts from Lake telubu and rises to 2428 meters. It can be seen that the grass slope gradually turns into bare rock. The design of the last cable car is very unique. The car can rotate 360 degrees by itself and climb slowly until it reaches the amazing peak of tielishi snow mountain. It can be said that this is a very creative sky travel. Although it can’t hover freely like an eagle, you can enjoy the glacier of tielishi snow mountain all the year round, the snow and the spectacular glacial cracks in full view no matter up or down. If you are lucky, you can overlook the Alps and the black forest of Germany.

From small to large, it’s the first time to see this kind of landscape, I can’t help but admire: “it’s so beautiful”! Some dazzling sunshine, but no reservation to sprinkle on the body, warm thick. I have seen the sea of clouds, but I have never seen such a magnificent momentum. Although it’s cold on the snow mountain, I don’t notice the passing of time when I look at the beautiful scenery. At the foot of the mountain, there is another fairy tale scene – pines are like silver giants, overlooking the tranquility of the village. Tielishi snow mountain has become my best memory of Switzerland!

WK15 Instant Air-b-n-b Review Prepare

This week’s tasks are spaced, requiring the completion of the final model as well as the portfolio. All our classmates are finishing their homework day and night. I put more and more energy into modifying the model. Investigate the three categories of people who go to the museum and analyze the functions they need. It is hoped that all functions can be considered as fully as possible in the transformer.

Art students are the kind of people I choose among students, adults, and children. The transformer’s model is only for students to do more in-depth research. I designed a porous plate, which can store a lot of color lead. Designed a small space to store handouts and stationery distributed by the museum. Designed a larger space for books and blueprints. The process of model making and assembling is also very interesting. It is very convenient to draw CAD, then use CNC to cut the plate and finish the paperwork. This is in line with the original intention of transformer design, simple operation, and flexible assembly.
